This is a 1921 Leyland Charabanc. The vehicle operated with GK Nash of Ventnor, before being converted to a lorry. Recovered from a farm at St. George's down, Isle of Wight by John Golding in the 1970s. The remains later passed to John's brother, Geoff, who is now carrying out a lenghty restoration. The engine was started for the first time in October. It was 70 years since it last fired. Geoff had problems with the magneto impulse but he has now sorted this. The gearbox is in place and connected and the engine is mounted in the chassis. The torque-tube back axle is under overhaul and the bus may well be mobile (in chassis form) within the next few years. The video was taken on 20th March by Jack Woodhams. Geoff has now started work on the Scuttle, too.
